Purlins & Sections
STRUCTURAL SECTIONS
RAFTER/ COLUMN STAYS
Thomas Panels and Profiles supply a range of rafter stays and column stays designed to provide additional restraint and support to main structural members within roof and wall systems. These components play an important role in maintaining alignment, improving stability during installation, and enhancing the overall performance of secondary steelwork.
Rafter and column stays act as stiffening and restraint elements, helping to control lateral movement and reduce the risk of rotation in purlins, rails, rafters, and columns. By tying secondary sections back to the primary frame, they assist in transferring loads safely through the structure, particularly under wind uplift, eccentric cladding loads, or during the erection phase before full cladding restraint is achieved.

MAIN FEATURES
MAIN FEATURES
Our standard stay is manufactured from a 45 mm x 45 mm x 2 mm galvanised angle, providing a strong yet lightweight solution suitable for most applications.
Each stay is supplied with pre-punched 18 mm holes to align with the standard punching used in Thomas Panels and Profiles main structural sections, ensuring quick installation and accurate positioning on site.
For applications involving deeper beams, heavier sections, or increased load requirements, a more robust U-channel stay is also available.
The U-channel design provides enhanced rigidity and improved resistance to twisting forces, making it suitable for larger structural members or areas requiring additional support.
