Thomas Panels & Profiles supplied the full cold rolled system, guttering, and Marlon CST Heatguard roofing sheets for a new cubicle shed on the owner’s family farm. The project is part of a long-term plan to expand the dairy herd and futureproof the farm for the next generation, with further expansion planned when market conditions allow. Built entirely in-house by the farm’s own construction company, the building has been designed for durability, light transmission, and long-term practicality.
The first half of the building was completed in just five weeks to meet the arrival deadline for the herd. It will house 170 cows initially, with the full shed designed to accommodate up to 300.
The roof is formed using a fibre cement system, with Marlon CST Heatguard rooflights integrated along the ridge. This provides consistent natural daylight while limiting heat build-up, helping to maintain a comfortable environment for the herd in warmer conditions. The building is finished with 32/1000 reverse steel cladding to the walls, providing a durable and low-maintenance external envelope.
The build is part of a wider programme of work, with further projects ongoing both on the farm and across other sites managed by the business.
One of the main challenges was the volume of earth that needed to be moved to position the shed. Careful planning, combined with the use of pre-punched cold rolled steel and precision-manufactured gutters, ensured the installation remained efficient and on schedule.
The completed first phase delivers a functional, weather-protected space with reduced glare and cooler internal temperatures. The use of Marlon CST Heatguard roofing has enhanced natural light levels while keeping the shed cool during the summer months, an important factor given recent heatwaves. With all key elements supplied by TPP, the build has benefitted from a consistent quality and finish, supporting both immediate livestock needs and long-term farm growth plans.
